Cycling Route 66:

• Relatively flat route, not a lot of climbing (we will average 32.5 ft of climbing per mile).

• The eastern half of the route feels like an American Savannah. Cattle meandering through small patches of small trees amongst vast, lush fields creates a beautiful rural scene. 

• The juxtaposition of an old, largely derelict highway with the American post-industrial architecture creates a surreal scene. Classic diners, gas stations, and old tourist traps dot an otherwise rural landscape, allowing a unique perspective on the old American Dream. 

• People in small towns are super friendly, eager to help, and welcoming. They have a lot of knowledge about the route and the community, and they love to share the historical significance of the route and their town’s place in it. 

• Lots of cool old-timey classic American cuisine. 

• Oklahoma is right at the intersection of the Midwest and West. Western ranch culture, midwestern farm culture, and a stronger Hispanic culture all begin to meld together in Eastern Oklahoma.
